The McWilliam’s 1877 range of wines pay homage to our founder Samuel McWilliam and our family’s rich winemaking heritage in New South Wales, which dates to the year 1877. The collection showcases its pristine cool climate origins delivering elegant wines of great complexity and finesse.
Our 1877 wines represent the McWilliam family’s heritage in New South Wales and the peak of our craftmanship.
- Andrew Higgins, Chief Winemaker
Our 1877 Hilltops Shiraz is sourced from the highest quality grapes in the finest vineyards in the district, particularly mature, low yielding vines that produce small bunches. A magnificent Shiraz with concentrated flavours and a vibrant finish.
Vibrant red purple in colour, the magnificent Shiraz has aromas of youthful blueberry, plummy fruits and complex toasty nuances. Concentrated flavours with red fruits grading into blues and a darker, licorice-like depth at its core. Floral hints and subtle stem-derived characters give complexity and detail to the ripe fruit. The richness of the mid-palate moves into a long, fine finish, ensuring this wine will age with grace and balance.
For your enjoyment now or cellar until 2040.
